You know what happened? These Comcast ads are awesome in comparison, we got notified that we were not allowed to get any other provider because the apartments are under contract. Yes, imagine how it was that we were grateful to have a chance at AT&T (15 or 20 mbps at that). Somehow they manage to make an installation where the wifi just went out for some reason I still don't know.ДЄT&T dropped some flyers in our mailboxes advertising internet in our community. Speeds got fixed and my wifi failed less and less until it stopped failing months later, except for the occasional outage but I can live with that, it's not frequent.

The blowback from the residents got so big that the complex actually managed to have the provider come in and upgrade their stuff. I tried to tell them I could give them the result right now: 0bps, but the most I could get was being asked to also (not instead, also) run one when the wifi was working. Yes, they wanted me to run a speedtest, on wifi, when the wifi was out. I called them, and they delivered this gem 'when that happens send us the results of a speed tester so we can see if something is wrong'. Then the waiting and router restarting game began, repeating both actions until it came back, more feeble than before. It was indeed very frequent, I could reliably make it fail by doing a skype video call and not so reliably by watching video, but still could.

I also began finding a lot of people in the common area studying or working because their wifi went out, and said that was frequent. I figured something was wrong with my box, but then found out my dear neighbors were in the same boat. Yes, that's right, 3, tested both wired and wifi with different speed testers, no change.

You might think that's par for the course, but no sir, it didn't even break 3 mb most of the time I measured it, the most I saw was about 7-9 if I remember correctly and it was like 2am or something. Now, the speed didn't even get close to advertised. When I first moved in, the package for 'up to 20 megs' costed into the $60's once all 'applicable fees' were added (right now it's at $67 and change but I think they raised my speed, I'll check later. Now, to be fair, they have improved the situation quite a bit. Of course, you don't realize how bad it is until you're already into your lease and living there. That's right, there's this company called Broadstar, that offers crappy service and the only way the got customers to sign in is because they somehow managed to get the complex to sign a deal. You people think you have it bad with Comcast? There are apartment complexes that have exclusive contracts (albeit about to expire) with worse entities. The progress in the map is getting closer to my location.
